Working at Valley Geotechnical
Recently hired in 2020, Sean Hope is one of Valley Geo’s Junior Geotechnical Engineers. Sean spends most of his days at work doing site visits. They range from compaction testing to construction inspections for our designs. He spends a lot of time in the lab as well, there you will find him testing materials, and when he’s in his office he is usually designing stormwater management systems and geotechnical structures.
When asked what he thinks about working at Valley Geo;
“Valley Geo is a small company full of people that are here to help. Everyone is excited about work and new projects and they are always willing to teach, help me grow, and learn”.
Education & Experience
Sean went to school for Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta. He was interested in a job will a nice balance of field work and office work. Sean was referred here by a friend who worked at Valley Geo over the summer, this is his first job in the geotechnical field. Before working at Valley Geo, Sean worked doing construction in the summer months between school years. He uses his previous experience from job sites to apply create designs that are feasible and understandable for others to build.
The advice that he would give to those getting into a job field;
“Be confident in your work but never be afraid to ask for advice”.
Outside of Work
When Sean is not at work he loves helping out around his family farm.
