Working at Valley Geotechnical
Logan joined the Valley Geo team in 2015 after completing his Bachelor of Engineering at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Since joining Valley Geo, he has provided support to the intermediate and senior-level geotechnical engineers on a wide variety of projects as an Engineer-In-Training. Through the years Logan has expanded his knowledge and experience in designing foundations, retaining walls, pre-load, shoring, as well as doing other geotechnical aspects such as slope stability analysis, settlement analysis, hazard assessments, stormwater management, and many others.
When asked what he thinks about working at Valley Geotechnical;
“Valley Geo takes pride in building relationships with our clients. It also has a great team of people including senior engineers who take the time to mentor the other employees”.
Education & Experience
Before beginning his Bachelor of Engineering and completing it in 2015, Logan completed a Diploma in Architecture and Building Science at BCIT. Logan became interested in Engineering because he enjoys being outside and going to sites, talking with clients, and the challenge of the varying projects. Before he started working at Valley Geo, Logan worked for contracting companies. Having this experience aids in his geotechnical work when working on a project as he understands the contracting aspect and the mindset of the workers.
The advice the he would give to those getting into a career;
“I would say that there are four aspects to live by in order to minimize stress in your life; be kind, stay humble, ask questions, and be confident, not arrogant”.
Outside of Work
When he is not working, Logan enjoys keeping busy doing a variety of activities. He likes various water sports and snow sports including skiing and tubing. Logan also enjoys building cars, doing carpentry work and upholstery. Logan has made the furniture in his bedroom as well as some chairs.
